Muriwai Waitangi Day Festival 2012

The first ever Muriwai Waitangi Day Festival showcases musicians whose strong Maori music identity has translated them offshore into ‘world music artists’.

The lineup includes Pacific Curls, Maisey Rika(Bossy Hill) and Moana & the Tribe.(Sol De Sully) Joining them are Anika Moa, Ardijah, Nat Rose (just back from Rhythm & Vines) and Majic a 15 year old emerging artist from the Kaipara and more.

CNZ Funding Sounds Aotearoa Attendance

Creative NZ is calling for expressions of interest from music managers, promoters and self-managed artists for support to attend the Sounds Aotearoa music industry expo and conference in New Plymouth this March (14 – 15).

Running alongside the World of Music, Arts and Dance festival (WOMAD), Sounds Aotearoa is designed to enrich the NZ music industry and expose local music to the global market.

APRA, on behalf of all its music writer members, would like to congratulate Bret McKenzie on the announcement that he is in the running for an Oscar Award.

“Huge congratulations for this well-deserved Oscar nomination. Punchy and passionate, “Man or Muppet” unflinchingly explores the age-old tension between hard man and soft toy. It's a winner. Go Bret!” says APRA writer director Don McGlashan.

Six60 Dominate NZ Music Charts for 2011

The results for the year are in and MMF artists feature heavily in the top 20.

It's been a massive year for Six60 (Teresa Patterson) who take out the Top Selling New Zealand Single and Artist and come in 6th overall under Adele, Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga.
