The national treasure that is Dave Dobbyn will be traveling around the world with the Dukes in late November

Dave Dobbyn ends a busy touring year with a return to London at the end of November.   He plays a one-off show at Shepherd’s Bush Empire,  his first theatre show in the UK in three years.   Dobbyn He stops off for the first time in Singapore and revisits Dubai, where the temperature has dropped to a more palatable 40degrees

There was no escaping the song ‘Vampires’ by Dukes - 18 months in the NZ airplay charts, delivering a Top 10 single,  ‘Video of the Year’ at the Juice Awards and ‘Breakthrough Artist’ from Myspace.   The Christchurch band, fronted by Indonesian brothers Matt and Jo Barus, saw its album ‘Still Life’  pick up Best Independent Rock album in Oz/NZ on i-tunes for 2010.

Dukes have gone from winning MTV’s Kickstart competition to supporting Blondie and The Pretenders, Gomez and INXS on their NZ dates.   They toured as support to Dave Dobbyn, Gin Wigmore, Midnight Youth, Th’Dudes and The Checks.   They’ve  had a song played in the popular US TV series ‘Brothers and Sisters’ and the instrumental intro to their song ‘Come Clean has been licensed by Columbia Pictures for use in the trailers and ads for  Brad Pitt’s new movie ‘Moneyball’ .
