Jonathan Pearce - The Beths

 

Based in Auckland, Jonathan Pearce is an in-demand New Zealand producer and recording engineer. He has also lent his performance, vocals, writing and technical skills to some of New Zealand’s finest artists.

Jonathan is also the lead guitarist in New Zealand band The Beths. In addition to performing, Jonathan also recorded, produced and lent technical support to the band’s debut EP Warm Blood (2016; re-released 2019), the single Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas (2018) and their debut album, Future Me Hates Me (2018).

To date, Future Me Hates Me has sold over 12,000 copies in the US, amassed over 8.09 million Spotify streams and attracted accolades from international music media. Regularly selling out shows across North America, Europe, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand, The Beths are proving to be one of the most in-demand live acts on the planet.

Since 2008, Jonathan has produced releases by Anthonie Tonnon (Successor, 2015; Two Free Hands, 2017), Great North (The Golden Age, 2017), Wax Chattels (Wax Chattels, 2018) and Astro Children (Beneath The Visible Surface, 2018).

Jonathan has co-produced with some of New Zealand's finest, working with Djeisan Suskov (Artisan Guns, Cool Rainbows) and Simon Gooding (Tiny Ruins). He has an artist-driven approach, developing artists and sharing the producer credits, as with Tiny Runs (Haunts, 2013), and Fazerdaze (Fazerdaze EP, 2014).

As a talented multi-instrumentalist, Jonathan has performed live with many of New Zealand’s finest, including Aldous Harding, Lawrence Arabia, Princess Chelsea, Andrew Keoghan, Steve Abel and Great North.

Jonathan continues to travel the world with The Beths and returns to his studio on Karangahape Road in Auckland to record and produce between tours. Most recently, he produced and engineered The Beths’ sophomore album Jump Rope Gazers, which debuted at #1 on the Top 20 NZ Albums chart and #2 Top 40 Albums chart week of release. The album also held four positions in the Hot NZ Single charts (#1, #8, #9 & #11).
