Critical reception, Voices

At the start of the year, Paper Cranes released their second albumVoices, which followed their strong and successful debut album,The Road Home. Voicesdelves into themes of togetherness and relationships, the echoes that pull us together and send us apart. In its darkness and lightness, the album is about doubt and freedom, the changing seasons, the decisions that lead us, the lies we’re told and the search for truth. In a successful opening week,Voiceshit number 12 on the NZ album charts, and #1 on the IMNZ charts.

Graham Reid review: "These are beautifully crafted and arranged songs – from hushed intimacy and confessions of weakness and need (Ghost Life with what sounds like Japanese wooden flute) to a more uplifting folk-rock style (Midsummer)."
