Jordyn With A Why’s latest single ‘Brown Melodies’ released today
Samoan/Māori artist and social media influencer ‘Jordyn With A Why’ releases her latest single ‘Brown Melodies.’
The making of the single was funded by NZ On Air as part of the ‘New Music Pasifika Single’ initiative. Jordyn was one of the Pacific artists chosen to explore her creativity with no financial burdens.
She says the song means more to her than just releasing another single.
“Brown Melodies is a celebration of our stories, our identity and our beauty,” says Jordyn.
“It’s about our lands and seas and really just a reminder of our collective greatness.”
Accompanying the song is its music video which will also be released on the same day. Jordyn says the video has everything to do with her family.
“The music video holds so much meaning, the process of making it, with just my family - my brother behind the camera, really figuring it out together was really special.
“We also got to honour my Nana who recently passed in a beautiful way - she’s woven throughout the entire visual which makes it so meaningful to me.”
The release of ‘Brown Melodies’ marks Jordyn’s second time releasing original music.
Her first single released in 2021 is called ‘Te Ao Marama’ and speaks on the pain of her miscarriage she experienced while trying to have kids.
Jordyn is now a mother of two boys and shares a passion with her husband Thomas to reclaim her birth right of speaking Te Reo Māori.
