Ōtautahi Christchurch alternative rock band NOPILOT return with new single ‘On and On’ on October 23rd, the fourth track from their upcoming debut album Fear and Laughter.
A high-energy, guitar-driven track, ‘On and On’ looks at the state of the world and our habit of repeating the same mistakes, even when history has given us plenty of reasons to know better.
Musically, the track pulls from the energy and weight of early Queens of the Stone Age, with some of the theatrical edge of My Chemical Romance coming through as well. It’s another side of the sound NOPILOT have been building across their first four singles.
Made up of Regan Barker, Samuel Lane, Talon Adams and Sam Burt, NOPILOT formed in Christchurch in 2026 and have already picked up airplay across The Rock, Radio Hauraki, BayRock and local and student radio.
‘On and On’ is out October 23rd, ahead of NOPILOT’s self-produced debut album Fear and Laughter, set for release in late November.
NOPILOT are a four-piece alternative rock band from Otautahi Christchurch, made up of Regan Barker, Samuel Lane, Talon Adams and Sam Burt.
Formed in 2026, their sound centres on strong melodies, guitars and an energetic live show, with influences including The Killers, Green Day and Kings of Leon.
Since releasing their first single in May, NOPILOT have released four tracks, picking up airplay across The Rock, Radio Hauraki, BayRock and a number of local and student radio stations.
Their debut album, Fear and Laughter, is set for release late November 2026. Written, recorded and produced by the band, the album has largely taken shape in their own hands. It was mixed by Thom O’Connor at Orange Studio and mastered by Chris Chetland at Kog Studio.
The four members have been part of the Christchurch music scene in different ways for years. Singer and guitarist Regan Barker has been playing in bands and touring New Zealand since he was 14 and is also Head of Music at Christchurch Boys’ High School. Drummer Samuel Lane is a drum tutor who plays alongside Barker in Canterbury covers band Mirrors, as well as alt-rock trio Saint Peter’s Thursday. Bassist Talon Adams has played with Black Fox Trio and Beware the Goatman, while guitarist Sam Burt is a multi-instrumentalist, singer and pianist who also releases music under his own name. Touring musician Nick France joins the band for live shows.
After four singles and a busy first year together, Fear and Laughter will be the first full-length introduction to NOPILOT.
