DEVILSKIN AWARDS AND HOT SUMMER TOUR DATES

Last night at the second annual Artisan Awards Clint Murphy won the Best Engineer Tui for Devilskin’s Be Like The River.  A fantastic achievement and recognition for his exemplary work on the album.  Devilskin (James Southgate) are also thrilled to announce they will play three additional live shows this Summer; New Year’s Eve in New Plymouth, January 2 in Wellington and January 3 in Napier.

Devilskin comment “We are delighted that Clint has been recognised for his effort and expertise producing and engineering our album Be Like The River. We were blown away with the global praise the album received and for it now to be honored at home with Clint winning a Tui for Best Engineer is great news.”

DEVILSKIN are also nominated in two categories at the Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards (VNZMA) for Best Group and Best Rock Album and they will perform at the VNZMA’s held at Spark Arena 16th November.

DEVILSKIN are also thrilled to announce they will play three additional live shows this Summer; New Year’s Eve in New Plymouth, January 2 in Wellington and January 3 in Napier.

This announcement follows the hugely successful NZ TOUR 2017. Devilskin sold out 5 of 7 live shows in New Zealand towns this month.  The overwhelming reaction to Devilskin’s Live Shows has led the band to schedule some additional dates to support the towns they didn’t get to.

NZ band DEVILSKIN’s (James Southgate) second studio album, Be Like The River released in November 11, 2016 debuted at #1 on the Official Album Chart on the 18th November 2016 has today been certified Gold.

NZ band DEVILSKIN’s (James Southgate) second studio album, Be Like The River released in November 11, 2016 debuted at #1 on the Official Album Chart on the 18th November 2016 has today been certified Gold.

Gold status means more than 7,500 copies of Be Like the River have been sold. Certification is awarded on the basis of over-the-counter retail sales and streaming data.

Nic, Jennie, Nail and I are terrifically proud of Be Like The River. This album, to us encapsulates our journey, vision, sacrifice and passion, the years of hard work (from so many) and the beautiful ride that it continues to be. Be Like The River features the smash singles VOICES, MOUNTAINS, PRAY and the recently released BELIEVE IN ME. The album is available as an 11 track album, 13 track deluxe pack and Gatefold LP vinyl edition.

The album was recorded with producer Clint Murphy at Modern World Studios, Tetbury in the United Kingdom after Devilskin’s European Tour.

Devilskin’s debut album We Rise released on July 11, 2014 and went straight to the top of the charts remaining as the Number 1 Album and Number 1 Kiwi Artist Album for 3 weeks and achieving Gold Sales after only 2 weeks. The album was certified Platinum in February 2015 with sales exceeding 15,000 albums.

Not only are they achieving considerable sales Devilskin’s fans have been streaming their music in all parts of the globe. Devilskin are the FIRST domestic NZ rock band to exceed 1,000,000 streams with one song, that being Elvis Presley Circle Pit and they are approaching 7,000,000 streams in total.

Devilskin have established themselves as a household name in their native New Zealand. Formed in Hamilton in 2010 this four piece rock band are bonded by blood. Paul (bass) and Nic (drums) are father and son, Jennie (vocals) is Nics’ Aunt and Pauls’ sister in law, Nail (guitar) is Pauls evil twin.

Devilskin have recently returned from their 4th UK tour in the past two years, which included sold out gigs in Ireland and playing at the legendary Rock + Metal 3 day festival DOWNLOAD. DEVILSKIN AND HALESTORM ROCK NZ AUDIENCES THIS SUMMER

Devilskin (James Southgate) will tour their explosive live set throughout New Zealand this summer from December 8 - January 21. The tour, presented by The Rock will support Devilskin’s third album, and second studio release, Be Like The River.

Devilskin (James Southgate) will tour their explosive live set throughout New Zealand this summer from December 8 - January 21. The tour, presented by The Rock will support Devilskin’s third album, and second studio release, Be Like The River.

Devilskin will be joined by Grammy Award Winning Hard Rock band Halestorm to deliver an incredible double headline at seven of the tour dates. 

Halestorm is an American rock band from Red Lion, Pennsylvania. The band features lead vocalist and guitarist Lzzy Hale, her brother drummer and percussionist Arejay Hale, guitarist Joe Hottinger and bassist Josh Smith. Freak Like Me and Love Bites (So Do I) both reached #1 on Active Rock charts, making Halestorm the first ever female-fronted band to top the format’s airplay ranking. The band won a Grammy for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance for Love Bites (So Do I). The accomplishments didn’t stop there, Hale was honored by Gibson Guitars, which celebrated her accomplishments by creating a Lzzy Hale signature Explorer guitar. Halestorm are well known for their near non-stop touring, often performing as many as 250 shows a year. 

Lzzy Hale shares “we are so excited to be coming back to New Zealand! There is such a passion for hard rock there and we are very humbled to be invited back with our new friends in Devilskin! You can expect glorious debauchery and lots of loud music! See you all soon!”

The band comment "we are beyond excited to be releasing our new studio album Be Like The River on November 11th. The title comes from a lyric of ours 'Be like the river and cut through the stone', the message is about reaching your goals through perseverance and unwavering determination. It’s been an incredible journey so far for Devilskin and we feel this album really encapsulates and represents our evolution as a band, as songwriters and as people.”

Be Like The River will be available as an 11 track album, 13 track deluxe pack and Gatefold LP vinyl edition. Pre Sales are available now from iTunes.

The album was recorded at Modern World Studio’s Tetbury in the United Kingdom after Devilkin’s European Tour. After the success of We Rise the band maintained their strong working relationships, continuing the very successful and creative association with Producer Clint Murphy, Murphy produced and mixed the album, and working alongside Ryan Smith from Sterling Sound New York who mastered both albums.

Barny Bewick from Indium Design created the artwork for the album. Devilskin say “we are incredibly proud of these songs and it was crucial to have the right visuals for the album so we again utilised the talents of Barny to create artwork that is as stunning and evocative as the music on the album.”
