With the release of his debut album on the horizon, today Kings (Matt Headland) shares his new music video for album banger 'We'll Never Know'. After a string of Friday single releases, the Chapter One story will come full circle as the album is released this November 3rd on Arch Angel & DRM NZ.

Co-directed with the Grut brothers (Fraser & Ben Grut) of FROG, the video takes place inside Chapple-Wilson's family home. Behind the foggy lens, an emotional rollercoaster is unfolding as Kings takes us through the motions over an upbeat dance beat. Watch the video and get that hand clap!

The young producer turned heads with what would become his chart-topping debut single 'Don't Worry Bout It' in the summer of 2015. The song has now surpassed over 6 million streams, while its infamous video created on his iPhone has received over 1 million YouTube views.

His forthcoming debut album Chapter One is a personal tapestry of beats, stories, and party tracks completely written, self-produced and recorded by Chapple-Wilson from his marae studio, Awataha. As his first independent release, it is a multifaceted yet cohesive body of work that blends stylistic boundaries and documents the young kiwi artist, father and producer's rise to the top.

Every Friday this month, kiwi performing artist/producer KINGS (Matt Headland) has shared a new track off his upcoming album Chapter One, revealing the different stories and sides to his debut album.

Today he shares the third new track to be revealed in the album lead up called 'Intermission'. Unique in texture and feel from the previous track 'HYLMN', this smooth rolling new track projects a more ethereal ambiance. It's a slow-burning intermission - a confessional reflection, a break before the almighty storm brewing.

Known as a musical shapeshifter in terms of the styles he fuses together in the studio, Chapter One is a multi-faceted yet cohesive body of work that documents the young kiwi artist, father and producer's steady rise to the top. Completely self-produced by Chapple-Wilson, the 12-track album is his first independent release of which he had to say:

"I've always encouraged artists and musicians to do things themselves and to study the game thoroughly. It was only right that I do this entire project the way I preach. From directing the music videos to designing the cover art, everything is written, produced, mixed, and mastered the way I intended, with the hope that it encourages YOU to do the same thing."

Chapple-Wilson appeared through the smokescreen with his chart-topping track 'Don't Worry Bout It' which has now surpassed 6 million streams and over 1 million YouTube views.

KINGS ANNOUNCES FORTHCOMING NEW ALBUM 'CHAPTER ONE'

New Zealand recording artist KINGS (Matt Headland) announces today his forthcoming debut album, Chapter One, set for independent release later in the year. Entirely self-produced by Kingdon Chapple-Wilson, the 12-track album will be released by KINGS himself through a new partnership with local digital music distributors DRM NZ.

With lead single 'We'll Never Know' scheduled to drop early September, the Kiwi hitmaker returns in fine form with a varied album showcasing an impressive range of styles and wide skillset as a producer, songwriter, lyricist and performer.

Best known for runaway chart-topping hit 'Don't Worry 'Bout It', which has now surpassed 6 million streams and recently received a Silver Scroll award nomination, KINGS has carved out a unique path as a multi-talented artist covering a diverse range of genres.

Regarding the album construction and forging a new path without a major record label involved, Kingdon comments:

"Firstly, thank you to everyone following and supporting this journey. Day 1 fans, new fans, welcome. Before I go further, I have to do a massive shout out to Warner Music NZ for believing in me - together we broke a New Zealand record, went platinum and made NZ history. Wouldn't have been possible without them.

I've always encouraged artists and musicians to do things themselves and to study the game thoroughly. It was only right that I do this entire project the way I preach. From directing the music videos to designing the cover art, everything is written, produced, mixed, and mastered the way I intended, with the hope that it encourages YOU to do the same thing."

DRM NZ are well known advocates for helping local New Zealand artists release their music globally. For just over a decade, the company has worked with a great host of independent kiwi artists in getting their music on digital platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, Google Play, Pandora and more.

On the new partnership with Kingdon and his team, DRM NZ General Manager Andy Low states:

"This is a thrilling release for us, and we're very excited to work with one of New Zealand’s great talents of today. KINGS has come up with a fantastic debut album, DRM looks forward to rolling out the new KINGS material far and wide."
