WELLBEING SEMINARS
A discussion about mental health and wellbeing in creative communities.
Being a musician, songwriter, composer, or member of the creative community that surrounds and supports them can pose serious challenges to maintaining good health and wellbeing.
Isolation, poverty, instability, odd work hours, stressful environments, criticism, drugs and alcohol - these are among the many things that contribute to the difficulty of maintaining a balance between work in the music industry and a healthy life.
With these seminars we're bringing together a group of panelists with different areas of expertise and experience to talk about everyday tools for managing your own mental health and wellbeing, as well as identifying some common experiences, and discussing a variety of services which are available to support you.
Victoria Kelly (APRA Director of Member Services), and Peter Dickens (MusicHelps GM), join guest speakers in an open and inclusive workshop around the following points:
Identifying key support networks - where to go, who to call, avenues of support.
Understanding group dynamics - normalising the ups and downs of bands/creative projects and the life-cycle of groups
Recognising indicators of concern
Preventative factors - what are the risks and what are some preventative measures that can be put in place.
