The NZ MMF & Independent Music NZ are proud to announce UK Manager/Tour Manager/Venue Manager Andy Inglis will be doing two seminars in New Zealand in March covering Artist Management and the International Festival Market.

Andy’s 28 year long career started in Scotland in 1990, DJing and running raves around the country. He began managing bands and small electronic labels, moving to London in 1997 to continue the work. In 2005 he co-founded The Luminaire, winning London Venue of The Year and UK Venue of The Year in the first two years. “Yesterday we again had Andy Inglis visit, who delivered two concentrated sessions, focusing on the tour management and international festivals, all combined in a wonderful mix of solid professional instructions, quirky anecdotes and an occasional sprinkling of Scottish profanity.” – Jesper Mardahl, PROMUS (Aarhus)

The MMF NZ are pleased to announce a seminar about Crowdfunding with Katie Thompson from Quirky Music.

The MMF NZ are pleased to announce a seminar about Crowdfunding with Katie Thompson from Quirky Music.

Crowdfunding is a popular way for musicians to raise money to fund projects such as album recordings but if the campaign is not run right they tend to fail.

Katie was the first country artist in the world to successfully raise $50,000USD to record her second album via Sellaband - a music-based crowdfunding site. She was the crowdfunding campaign manager for Anika Moa's PledgeMe campaign for Songs for Bubbas 2 and has worked with independent artists including Kylie Price, Parabola West, Jenny Mitchell & Li'l Chuck. To date, she has raised over $250,000 towards her own and other independent artists campaigns.

In this essential seminar Katie will be sharing her knowledge and experience on how to create a successful crowdfunding campaign. This will include what's required before you begin, the basics of crowdfunding, tips on what has worked in past music-based campaigns & post-campaign to-dos.

This seminar is for MMF members only and will be held simultaneously in Auckland and Wellington via Google Hangout, with members outside of these regions also able to participate.

MMF presents ‘Crowdfunding 101’ Seminar

Date: Tuesday 13 March

THE MANAGERS SANCTUARY

The AAM (Association of Artist Managers in Australia) have launched an inaugural annual professional development program this month called "The Manager Sanctuary" on Wednesday 6th to Saturday 9th December.  Congratulations to Rikihana Douglas - our NZ MMF participant.

The AAM (Association of Artist Managers in Australia) have launched an inaugural annual professional development program this month called "The Manager Sanctuary" on Wednesday 6th to Saturday 9th December . It will be hosted at AAM Patron, Michael McMartin’s property at Cambewarra on the NSW South Coast, the same week of Fairgrounds Festival

The concept behind the “Manager Sanctuary” is to build strong peer to peer management networks locally and internationally. The informally structured program will aim to share insights and learnings from a global industry that is constantly shifting.

The programme is aimed at managers who have helmed or are about to helm a global album release and tour, and work with global label/agents/promoter/publisher teams, but are coming up against common hurdles with taking that first level of achievement, and moving it forward to sustainable careers for the bands and the manager.

The AAM reserved a spot for a MMF NZ member, and a range of managers who fit the criteria were invited to apply. This year’s participant is Rikihana Douglas from Richmond Music who manages L.A. Woman and SACHI - who have some exciting international plans for 2018.
