Tiki Taane & Salmonella Dub ‘IGNITE’

These three epic shows are what inspired the ‘IGNITE’ song & video, and is this is the first time since the 2004 album One Drop East that the two entities have worked together in the studio.

To celebrate the release, a very limited run of 7” vinyl will be available through Rhythmethod featuring the ‘IGNITE’ single and a ‘RE-IGNITE’ remix by Salmonella Dub. Both of these versions will also be available to stream & download through all digital services.
Tiki says of the collaboration, “The main thing I noticed around the 25th anniversary shows, which warmed my soul, was the diversity in generations, the mix of young & old fans who were so amped to be part of the celebrations. I was really excited that my kids could experience it too as they weren’t alive when I was last in Sal Dub, so that was a huge buzz for them & for me!
“I had such a blast re-connecting with the band & music that it felt right to hit the studio to capture what we were all experiencing and that morphed into this banger called ‘IGNITE’. The song’s meaning is about standing the test of time, being strong like a mountain & deep like a sea. It’s about engaging the consciousness & igniting oneself to wake up to social issues and talking to our tamariki about the importance of staying connected, like roots of a tree, to the foundation of whanau & love.”
In addition, Salmonella Dub have also just released a deluxe box set containing 10 remastered 12" vinyl albums with a 40 page pictorial book documenting the bands history since 1993 including unreleased photos with Tiki on tour in France and Big Day Out. A very limited run is available for pre-order up until Christmas here - Salmonella Dub Vinyl Box Set
Both Salmonella Dub and Tiki Taane are currently busy working on new albums which will be released separately in 2019. Due to extremely popular demand Salmonella Dub and Tiki Taane will be playing more shows together before the release of their new albums later next year.

Grammy Award-winning, American rock guitarist SLASH and his band Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators are thrilled to announce New Zealand rock royalty Devilskin as the support act for their January/February 2019 tour, playing Baypark Arena in Tauranga and Spark Arena, Auckland in New Zealand, and arenas throughout Australia in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth.
“Devilskin have conquered their home territory New Zealand. Now it's the rest of the world's turn to surrender” - METAL HAMMER
One of New Zealand’s most dominant live acts, Devilskin, have spent the last few months playing across 14 European countries on a sold-out tour with Halestorm, as well as headlining their own 10 date UK tour. It’s been a crazy two years since Devilskin played with Disturbed at Spark Arena in November to a full-house of 11,000 people on the release of their second album, which like their first, entered the NZ album chart at #1.
“Watch out for them conquering a continent near you soon!” - KERRANG!
Devilskin return to NZ for these prestigious arena support shows having converted a legion of new fans and hard-rocking friends all over Europe and the British Isles.
Bassist and founding member of Devilskin Paul Martin says, “We are absolutely delighted that Slash has invited us to be special guests on the Australasian tour. We had so much fun on tour through Europe and we are really excited to be bringing our high powered show to our ardent Aussie and Kiwi friends. It's going to be a great few weeks and we are all totally looking forward to catching up with Slash and crew again."
Known for their blistering and intense live shows, watch Devilskin perform their stunning, explosive sets with Slash Feat. Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators in January/February 2019.
New Zealand’s obsession with Slash, in any guise, is steadfast - we can't get enough of him. A new story started with his first solo album Slash (2010), which debuted at #1 on the Official NZ Album chart and is certified Platinum. As Slash Ft. Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators, he released the critically acclaimed Apocalyptic Love (2012), followed by World On Fire (2014) and now the latest album Living The Dream.
Slash has amassed album sales of over 100 million copies and was inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in 2012 . "Making records and touring and getting up on stage every day and playing music with these guys, that is the essence of living the dream” says Slash.
The NZ connection is strong – this will be the bands third tour of the country’s largest arenas and their first date with a Tauranga audience! Make sure you become part of the latest chapter in this band's story when Slash Ft Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators grace a stage near you.

Sonic Delusion, the Swiss-Kiwi electro-folk raconteur’s first single “Mamma Please”, from his upcoming album “Anything Goes” (to be released in May 2019), launched Friday in front of his hometown fans in New Plymouth.
“Mamma Please” is a taste of what’s on his new up and coming album. Staying true to his too funky for folk and too folky for funk signature style, Manella crafts his melody around lyrics that create a clever backdrop of very memorable song. Riffs of travels, tattoo’s, piercings and procrastinating the desire grow up, “Mamma Please” allows us all too blissfully ooze with the music and into our own youthful enchantments.
Loyal followers and his gatherings of new fans are in for a real treat; catch him on his national tour of “Mamma Please” at the following gigs:
30.11.2018 Brew Craft Beer Pub Rotorua 9 pm - FREE ENTRY
01.12.2018 The Rising Tide Mount Manganui 7pm - FREE ENTRY
02.12.2018 Our Place Tauranga 1pm - FREE ENTRY
CATHERINE TUNKS 'BLIND FAITH'
Blind Faith is the new release from songstress Catherine Tunks and is a heartwarming travellers tale. Tunks wrote the track to convince herself she wasn’t crazy to just up and leave to hit the highway – as so many romantic minded musicians and artists do.
Blind Faith is the new release from songstress Catherine Tunks and is a heartwarming travellers tale of country blues – on her way to travel and tour solo in US and Europe last year, Tunks wrote the track to convince herself she wasn’t crazy to just up and leave to hit the highway – as so many romantic minded musicians and artists do. Blind Faith was filmed at the legendary Hokianga Country Music Festival this year and is a slice of Northland Kiwiana from Christchurch based Paul Sparkes.
“Last August I was driving an open top car through country lanes in a balmy european summer. Oh how I wish I’d had this song to travel with me. ‚Blind Faith‘ is a slice of perfect summer country vibes. If you can feel a warm wind blow through your hair as you head towards the beach, this is exactly what you want to be listening to. Catherine Tunks is the mistress of many genres but the marriage of her beguiling voice and this breezy country pop is one made in heaven.” - Stefan Wolf, One Shot Wonder

The Vodafone NZ Music Awards were celebrated last night in Auckland. Congratulations to our MMF artists Marlon Williams (Best Solo Artist and Album of the Year), Alien Weaponry (Best Rock Artist), and Chores (Best Electronic Artist)
Six60 has cemented their place as a powerhouse in Aotearoa’s music scene, claiming five Tui at the 53rd Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards at Spark Arena in Auckland tonight.
After selling out Western Springs for their only gig this summer, the group received THREE Best Group, Highest Selling Album, Vodafone Highest Selling Single and NZ On Air Radio Airplay Record of the Year Award, presented by the man behind the 2018 Tui redesign Dick Frizzell.
They also claimed the coveted Vodafone People’s Choice. [DV1] [AW2] For the first time, this award was open to all finalists, further highlighting the band’s popularity with the public.
After winning a Tui for Best Music Video for his track ‘Vampire Again’ at the 2018 Artisan Awards at Massey University, Wellington last week, Marlon Williams was celebrated once again on the Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards stage – taking out Best Solo Artist and the Hallensteins Album of the Year for his 2018 album Make Way for Love.
This brings Marlon’s total Tui number up to five, after winning Best Male Solo Artist and Breakthrough Artist of the Year at the 2015 Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards.
Newcomers Drax Project were also big winners tonight. They’ve been recognised with the Jaguar Breakthrough Artist of the Year and Vodafone Single of the Year for ‘Woke Up Late’, which resonated with kiwi music fans throughout 2018.
Funkadelic soul superstar Troy Kingi has been recognised with both Te Māngai Pāho Best Māori Artist and Best Soul/R&B Artist after releasing the genre-bending Shake That Skinny Ass All the Way to Zygertron
Aotearoa hip hop pioneers Upper Hutt Posse were inducted into the Te Whare Taonga Puoro/New Zealand Music Hall of Fame and received the 2018 Tohu Whakareretanga/Legacy Award. A powerful tribute performance of “E Tu” by Che Fu and The Kratez, featuring 14 year old DMC DJ World Champ K-Swizz closed out the evening ceremony.
The 2018 International Achievement recipient was Brooke Ligertwood who is one of the top selling and most popular New Zealand recording artists of all time.
More widely known in Aotearoa under Brooke Fraser, where her albums have been certified 15x Platinum, her recent work with worship group Hillsong earned her a Grammy earlier this year for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song under her married name.
After kicking the ceremony off with a high energy performance of “Kai Tangata”, Alien Weaponry has been recognised with the Tui for Best Rock Artist for 2018.
Their debut album Tū in June reached #5 on the New Zealand album charts, and since releasing it the band have had a whirlwind year of international tour and success.

Recorded Music NZ CEO Damian Vaughan said the calibre of musicians in Aotearoa continues to impress year on year, and 2018 is no exception.
“The quality of music being created and recorded in Aotearoa is world-class. Each and every Tui awarded tonight was incredibly well deserved and I personally look forward to seeing what the future holds for both these musicians – finalists and winners alike – and the musicians of tomorrow.”
The 2018 Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards were hosted by Stan Walker and Kanoa Lloyd and featured a more intimate set up than previous years, utilising multiple stages to refocus the awards on Aotearoa’s abundance of musical talent.
Tonight there were performances from Six60, Alien Weaponry, Robinson, Drax Project, JessB, Sons of Zion, a special In Memoriam performance by Stan Walker and an amazing tribute performance by Che Fu and The Kratez for the 2018 Legacy Award recipient Upper Hutt Posse.

Alayna Announces ‘Sweet Soul’ Release Party
Auckland via New York RnB/Neo-Soul artist Alayna has announced she will be bringing her heartfelt debut EP Sweet Soul to Auckland’s Anthology Lounge on Friday 23rd November
Auckland via New York RnB/Neo-Soul artist Alayna has announced she will be bringing her heartfelt debut EP Sweet Soul to Auckland’s Anthology Lounge. The vocals for the five-track opus were recorded at Golden Age Studio in Auckland by Josh Fountain of Leisure. The instrumentals were then produced and reproduced in New York City at various studios during the artist’s tenure in the city that never sleeps. The tunes have since racked up millions of Spotify streams, with the title track having been heard over five million times across the globe.
The EP was released via Vancouver-based label 20XX, the brainchild of Chad Hillard of renowned music blog Hillydilly. Hillard heard an early Soundcloud rendition of Alayna’s track ‘Bliss’ and immediately introduced her to a score of producers to help further hone her tunes.
Attendees at the recent Going Global Presents showcase at Whammy Bar and Mitch James’ appearance at The Powerstation will know that Alayna’s powerful and profound blend of RnB, Neo-Soul and polished Pop leaves a lasting impression. From the sombre builds and drops of ‘Bliss’ to the Bond Theme-in the making of ‘Between Dusk and Dawn’ - the latter of which was co-written and produced by longtime Billie Eilish collaborator Finneas O’Connell.
The release show will be an intimate affair, as inspired by pop heroine Lorde’s live debut in Galatos Basement, which made a lasting impression on Alayna. The sub-100 capacity, velvet-clad ambience of Anthology Lounge was the obvious choice to host her sonic homecoming. The recently-opened K Rd venue emanates class in a similar manner that the artist’s vocal melodies and delicate arrangements on tracks like ‘Sweet Soul’ and ‘High Off You’.
The rising star is already on a relentless schedule, returning to Aotearoa to play the release show only days after completing a recording stint in London with hitherto virtual collaborators Astronomyy and Maths Time Joy.
For fans of Solange, Erykah Badu and recent Anitpodean visitor Nai Palm.
