O’Leary released her debut singles “Honey babe”, “Outnumbered” and “Body, Now” in 2022, charting on numerous independent radio stations across New Zealand, showcased on national radio, and gained 140,000 views on a self directed music video. Quickly establishing herself as a rising force in the local music scene, Greta was recently the recipient of APRA’s Aotearoa Artist Mentoring programme, and is currently working with mentor Tom Healy (Jen Cloher, Marlon Williams) and a heavy-hitting team on her new recordings. She has played all around Aotearoa with her live band and featured at NZ’s biggest street festival (Newtown Festival), Wellington’s Gardens Magic and Earthbeat Festival.

Pōneke Art Rockers Sheeps make a bold debut with their new single 'Generation I'

NZ Art Rock band Sheeps are set to release their debut album ‘Working the Machine’ through AAA Records in April 2024. In an age of growing disquiet over technology’s advancement, Sheeps’ first single, Generation I, dutifully captures this sentiment, channeling it into five-and-a-half-minutes of their own high-tempo, guitar-driven brand of Art Rock. 

Born from frontperson Dean Blackwell’s concern for the young generation of guinea pigs in a technological new world order and backed by an unrelenting Indie-Rock-with-a-DnB-feel from the rhythm section, the guitars drone with an incessance that speaks to the constant exposure to content and throat-stuffing of advertisements, and Blackwell sings, with a jaded cynicism, of a hammering self-centredness which sees these youngsters develop a habit of oversharing to the point of indecency to an imagined global audience.

Georgia Lines delivers breathtaking new single ‘Grow Old Without You’, ahead of forthcoming debut album

Aotearoa’s award-winning artist Georgia Lines has today returned with the vulnerable and emotive new single ‘Grow Old Without You’. This is the second single to be released off Georgia’s forthcoming debut record THE ROSE OF JERICHO, out June 7, 2024.

A gorgeous, stripped back upright piano expands into lush harmonies and an emotive string section - Georgia’s voice soaring and then hushed; putting on full display her undeniable skill for emotive storytelling through vocal performance. Lyrically, ‘Grow Old Without You’ is vulnerable and honest, yet brave and courageous; interwoven with the string arrangement to create an immersive, magical soundscape.

“For ‘Grow Old Without You’, I wanted to create a world that felt like I was in Alice in Wonderland,” explains Georgia. “I have always been really inspired by orchestral arrangements and often find myself desperate to create moments sonically that would fit into/be inspired by the scene where Alice is singing with the flowers. There are a few moments on my album that fit into this world too.”

Co-written with Grammy-nominated producer Leroy Clampitt (BROODS, Laufey, Six60) in LA, during Georgia’s first writing trip back in November 2022, ‘Grow Old With You’ was then primarily recorded in Aotearoa with Nic Manders at his studio in Kingsland. The breathtaking string arrangement was then done by Claire Cowan, and recorded by the Black Quartet at Roundhead Studios.

“In the months leading up to recording the album, I had been listening to and watching a lot of old Disney movies - some of which were the very first Disney animations that existed, such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs released in 1937,” says Georgia. “I found myself so drawn to and enchanted by the orchestral string arrangements that would often hold the opening moments of those films, and I was so inspired to bring that feel into parts of the album; ‘Grow Old Without You’ being one of those moments.”

Today’s release is the second single to come from her upcoming debut album, following the heartfelt ballad ‘The Letter’, which was met with huge support from local media, featuring on Rolling Stone AU/NZ, The Edge, ZM, More fm, The Hits, Sniffers, Coup de Main, Seven Sharp and more.

Georgia's success is not surprising, given her impressive track record. She was named the AMA

Breakthrough Artist of the Year in 2022, her EP HUMAN topped the Official Top 20 NZ Album

chart, and her lead single ‘Faith’ held the #1 spot on the NZ Airplay Radioscope chart for four

consecutive weeks. Her live performances have also received critical acclaim, and she has

opened for international acts and performed at various showcases around the world including

SXSW, Big Sound and Los Angeles iconic industry showcase, School Night.

This success was complemented by her electrifying showcase at SXSW, leading to her signing with Wasserman Music. The momentum from this event propelled her Spotify streams to an astounding 8 million. Recently, she completed her first US tour supporting Abraham Alexander and is now about to head off again for a 13-date tour across the US supporting Priya Ragu.

Aside from her musical accomplishments, Georgia also hosts a popular music web series called

INTROS which is a series in which Georgia introduces her new favourite female and non-binary

artists through a relaxed sit-down kōrero. Each episode focuses on the artist's chosen song,

delving into the story behind the song and the process of writing, before treating viewers to a

live performance. 2024 INTROS has just kicked off and the first two episodes are live now featuring Ny Oh, Frankie, and is being hosted on Rolling Stone AU/NZ for the first time!

With her debut album THE ROSE OF JERICHO set to be released on June 7, 2024, today’s single gives another tantalising glimpse of what’s to come. “‘Grow Old Without You’ is such a beautiful reflection of the world that my album lives in,” says Georgia. “Being the opening track of the record, it sets the scene of the journey of the album to come.”

The Advocators Release Debut Album ‘Songs from an Endless Night’

The hillbillies and misfits of Northland and Mountain View Arkansas rejoice as Maungaturoto-based two-piece, The Advocators, release their debut album ‘Songs from an Endless Night’, for independent release on the 8th of March 2024.

Songs from an Endless Night was recorded between sou-westerly squalls in a shed/studio out the back of Tomarata between empties and unrepaired trailer sailors. The recordings were supported by William Jackson (bass, drums, producer and engineer), Anita Clark (violin and vocals) and mastered by Chris Chetland of Kog Studio. Flirting with both cynicism and naive hope, the album explores themes of unrequited love, contempt, disillusionment, and redemption.

The album has a sparse, gritty, vintage sound, oscillating between bluegrass country ballads and hostile gospel stomp rock and features the singles ‘Dreams’, ‘Bad Girls’, ‘Elijah’ and ‘Waitin’ Round to Die’ (the latter an abrasive cover of the profound and haunting Townes Van Zandt song)

The songs on the album were written largely in isolation by Leroy Brown (guitar, banjo, and lead vocals) and Mark Bruce (guitar, backing vocals and melodica). The result of this isolation is a singular set of songs with raw emotion and meticulous attention to lyricism.

The recording of this album had to be delayed due to Leroy being beset by tragedy with the loss of his son, not only was the project delayed, but the mood, songwriting and vision of the album significantly changed.

KEITH PEREIRA RELEASES DEBUT SINGLE, “YEEHAW”

New Zealand has become a breeding ground for country artists of longevity and substance, and the newest name on the block is Keith Pereira. 

Ready to follow in the footsteps of Keith Urban, Kaylee Bell and Jenny Mitchell he is making inroads into Australia and around the globe with the release of his debut single, “Yeehaw” and it’s an absolute beauty!

While on the road to a gig, Keith realised he needed a ‘punchy sing along song’ that would get people stomping their boots right away. He started writing right then and there and the bones of “Yeehaw” were started on his phone’s voice notes.

Enter Caroline Jones. Yes, THAT Caroline Jones from Zac Brown Band. Keith had met her when he was an extra on the set of one of her music videos. He sent her the voice note of “Yeehaw” asking for her feedback. Much to his surprise, she loved the song so much that she offered to co-produce it with Aussie, Mike Avenaim. 

“The moment I heard “Yeehaw”; I was hooked. It’s catchy and clever, a combination that marks the best country party songs”, says Caroline. “Keith has a truly unique talent. He is a fantastic chicken pickin’ guitar player, a heartfelt and stylized singer, and a songwriter that delivers genuineness and wit”.

Mike continued, “Working with Keith on this track has been awesome. He’s very meticulous in a great way which really pushed me to get him the best results while producing and mixing the track. On top of this, his songwriting is just slamming!”

Together, Caroline and Mike assembled a powerhouse team including Keith Urban’s guitarist, Danny Rader and Australia’s Prince of Pedal Steel, Jy-Perry Banks, who have all added their distinctive flavour to the recording.

“I've literally breathed country music my entire life so, to finally be at the release of my first single is honestly, a dream come true. To have the support of Caroline and have her co-produce my song with Mike Avenaim plus have the best players contribute to this song, it really has gone way beyond that dream come true", says Keith.

Keith Pereira is a Kiwi Indian country singer, songwriter and guitarist. His love for country music started growing up in the Middle East, listening to his uncle’s country radio show in Abu Dhabi. He combines his rich country voice, guitar skills and energetic live performances with his influences from 90’s giants Alan Jackson, Brad Paisley and Vince Gill. The result is a slice of nostalgia while being fresh with a complete modern twist. It makes it uniquely Keith Pereira and brands him as one of the hottest new names to watch.

DHEM DROPS A GLOBAL LINEUP ON HIS NEW TRACK ‘MIDNIGHT FLEX’

DHEM has announced himself as an incredibly creative artist/producer/DJ to watch out for who is thinking outside the box within his music. Delivering this globally certified track, Titled ‘Midnight Flex’, it boasts features from TBG (Johannesburg, South Africa) and Benny the Greek (Sydney) and really captures the different cultures with 2 countries coming together.

Each artist shares their perspective on their past and current circumstances based on the pitfalls and vices of a relationship and the 5 principles of time management. With each verse telling a tale it showcases many layers of style and sound which come together in overlapping themes. The layering and construction of the song have been put under the spotlight and with each verse, with its blending genres of Australian Hip Hop, UK Grime, Afrobeat and Amapiano.
