DEVILSKIN RELEASE BLISTERING NEW SINGLE ‘SWELTER’

Winners of the 2025 AMA’s coveted PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD, DEVILSKIN are set to further thrill their ardent fan base with ‘SWELTER’, the second single off their hotly anticipated and 13-track studio album

Winners of the 2025 AMA’s coveted PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD, DEVILSKIN are set to further thrill their ardent fan base with ‘SWELTER’, the second single off their hotly anticipated and 13-track studio album

RE-EVOLUTION, due out Friday 11 July.

Undoubtedly New Zealand's hottest rock ticket at the moment, Devilskin present their second single and first video from the forthcoming album RE-EVOLUTION.

Fresh from taking out the coveted People's Choice Award in the recent Aotearoa Music Awards, climbing all over rock radio with the bold, upbeat single 'Half-Life of Dreams', AND currently immersed in a 12-date NZ tour, Devilskin release the incendiary track 'Swelter', which see's vocalist Jennie Skulander towering over one of the sickest riffs you'll ever hear.

As Skulander monster-hulks her way between flashes of calm and vicious sonic intrusions, this song, with its razor riffage and Jennie's devastating delivery, is immediately compelling and contagious. This is bold and right in your face as Jennie belts out the first lyric “Everything, anything you want to be, you can be, you just need the right philosophy!”

Addressing the subject of personal responsibility and achieving your potential, lyricist Paul Martin comments “I had this odd neighbour for a while. His life was junk food, gaming, living with mum, and generally being inert; so I developed this story for him. When Nic came up with the music, with its aggression, quirks, and schizophonics, it just fell together perfectly.”

And then there's the video, directed by multi-award winning director Shae Sterling. A visual feast, the clip is an action packed 'hard ride' through some iconic Kiwi glory. Not for the first time, Devilskin show they aren't too-cool-for-school by injecting some hearty homegrown humour into the visuals and obviously having fun in the process.

Drummer Nic Martin shares his enthusiasm: "We're absolutely thrilled to share this wild, wacky video with the world. It was a total pleasure to have our friend and long-time collaborator Shae direct the chaos with his signature style. Reminiscent of westie-glam and 80's kiwi bogan, but with a taste of modern metalcore twisted in, the replay-value on this video is sky-high."

Aotearoa's Ringlets Share New Single + Video 'I Was on That Roof Once'

Ringlets share the bewilderingly beautiful third single, ‘I Was on That Roof Once’, from their soon-approaching album The Lord Is My German Shepherd (Time for Walkies), set for release on June 27th via Flying Nun Records and Leather Jacket Records.

Ringlets share the bewilderingly beautiful third single, ‘I Was on That Roof Once’, from their soon-approaching album The Lord Is My German Shepherd (Time for Walkies), set for release on June 27th via Flying Nun Records and Leather Jacket Records.

Following up the world-weary ‘Heavenly Wheel’ and blistering ‘Street Massage’, ‘I Was on That Roof Once’ showcases the varied sound of the band's upcoming sophomore album. Glistening guitar meets the ticking drums of Arlo Grey and gorgeous harmonies - courtesy of vocalists Arabella Poulsen, László Reynolds & Leith Towers - with a not-so-subtle introduction of the LP’s title in the track’s mystifying opening line.

About the song and its music video, Leith shares “‘I Was on That Roof Once’ circles the drain of sincerity, belief, and our better natures gone a bit mouldy. The video features door dancing, a lost Irish tradition we’ve likely misremembered, pitched somewhere between ceremony and bluff. It’s a nod to ritual, balance, and the ways we try not to spill ourselves.”

To be released on June 27th via Flying Nun Records and Leather Jacket Records, The Lord Is My German Shepherd (Time for Walkies) is the band's shimmering follow-up to their distinct eponymous debut in 2023 and a vibrant expression of their singular song craft.

Produced by Ringlets - Arabella Poulsen (bass & vocals), Arlo Grey (drums), László Reynolds (guitar & vocals) and Leith Towers (lead-vocalist) -  in Auckland at The Lab alongside Michael Logie (The Mint Chicks) and mixed by Isaac Keating at Abbey Road Studios, The Lord Is My German Shepherd (Time for Walkies) conjures mystic visions; takes raucous, unkempt yet solely committed turns, twists, and tiptoes delicately between the absurd and the divine.

The Lord Is My German Shepherd (Time for Walkies) is available for pre-order now on Translucent Green Vinyl with Obi Strip and on Exclusive Flying Nun Black. Pre-order or Pre-save here.

About Ringlets: Ragingly bright post-punk quartet Ringlets emerged from Aotearoa’s musical ether in 2021; carving out space with their distinct blend of delicate wit, grit and evident sonic technicality. With a highly durable, machine-tested rhythm section (Arabella Poulsen, Arlo Grey) and two of Auckland’s leading lyrical & melodic consultants (László Reynolds, Leith Towers), Ringlets have been fast-building a solid reputation.

Catching the eye of former Pitchfork editor Chris Ott, Autumn 2023 saw the band release their eponymous debut under Ott’s label Mutual Skies. Produced by De Stevens (Office Dog, Erny Belle) and the band themselves, the 10-track album is a riotous and tightly sporadic introduction to this exciting musical offering from Tāmaki Makaurau. Since then, the four-piece has been sharpening their toolkit with numerous performances across Aotearoa, supporting heavy-hitting internationals such as UK indie-rockers Sorry, and seminal punk force The Damned as well as stand-out festival performances at The Others Way, Junk Fest & Newtown Festival.

After supporting Kasey Chambers on 32 dates around Australia, Jenny Mitchell is hitting the road to celebrate the release of her new album ‘Forest House.'

NZ Best Country Artist Winner and 2 x Golden Guitar nominee, Jenny, is now Melbourne based after signing with Australian Record label Civilians (formerly Cooking Vinyl), and being personally chosen by Kasey Chambers to support her entire Australian “Backbone” Tour.

With impactful songs full of grace and grit, Jenny has won the hearts of the Austrailan media with her new album Forest House ( released May 16th ) .

“Every so often, an artist emerges who has everything it takes to reach the pinnacle of country music success.  I have no hesitation in predicting that that is what lies ahead for Jenny Mitchell. She’s a star.”

Tamworth Country Music Capital News

‘Forest House’ is a collection of songs that reflect everything that can happen within four walls; the new beginnings, the leaving. The opening, closing or slamming of doors. The good, the bad, the nostalgic and everything in between. Recorded in a house nestled in the rural Wairarapa of New Zealand. “Forest House” has opened the door for Jenny.

No stranger to the road, Jenny was recently awarded a scholarship to perform at Nashville’s iconic AmericanaFest and has toured Australia and New Zealand extensively over the last decade - supporting artists including Fanny Lumsden (AU), Tami Neilson (NZ) and Nadia Reid (NZ) along the way. Her last album ‘Tug of War’ was nominated for Alt Country Album of the Year at the 2023 Golden Guitar Awards and included the pivotal release of the 2022 APRA NZ Best Country Song ‘Trouble Finds a Girl,’ cowritten with Tami Neilson, an anthemic response to mistreatment of women in the music industry.

Jenny grew up in a home of music and often tours with her sisters, The Mitchell Twins, and country music loving Dad, Ron Mitchell - who all feature on ‘Forest House.’  After growing up with a musical diet of The Chicks, Hank Williams and Dolly Parton, Jenny penned her first songs at the age of 11 after a trip to Ireland where she connected with her Irish heritage and explored the immigration story of her Irish born Grandparents. A few years down the track, Jenny performed original work on the TV show New Zealand's Got Talent, was placed 3rd and went onto crowdfund and release her first album at the age of 15. In 2017, she was crowned the overall winner of the NZ Gold Guitar Awards which kickstarted the professional chapter of her career, leading to her Aotearoa Music Award Winning album 'Wildfires’ produced by Tasmania’s Matt Fell.

With a sound that No Depression describes as, “poetry that dominates a beautiful melody,” Jenny Mitchell is comfortable with a country twang or softly spoken ballad and is rapidly capturing fans across the globe.

“A musical journey told with depth & emotion, shared with beautiful musicians, heartfelt production and strong family connection. ‘Forest House’ is everything I love about Jenny Mitchell.” – Kasey Chambers

The Forest House Tour will also give audience members a chance to give back to Women’s Refuge through the national Safe Night Programme. Known for weaving purpose into her music, Jenny has created limited-edition Forest House Keyrings that will each generate 1 x Safe Night - a night of security, shelter and food for a woman and children escaping domestic violence.

“Forest House made me think a lot about how lucky I am to have grown up in a safe, loving house but it also made me think about those who don’t have that privilege. Women’s Refuge are working day and night in our communities and wanted to find a little way to contribute to their incredible work.”  Jenny Mitchell

New Zealand's ALIEN WEAPONRY recently released their head-turning third album, Te Rā, via Napalm Records! New Zealand's ALIEN WEAPONRY recently released their head-turning third album, Te Rā, via Napalm Records! Swiftly, following the announcement of their upcoming USA tour supporting Avatar with fellow openers SpiritWorld, the band has dropped a brand new music video for album single 'Taniwha', featuring an intense guest appearance from metal icon Randy Blythe (Lamb Of God).

In the video, the modern groove metal trio find themselves face to face with puppet masters of corporate greed and overconsumption, providing a thought-provoking backdrop to one of the album's most aggressive, death-metal leaning offerings.

"We are super excited to share something we have been working on for a while.
We felt honored to have the opportunity to collaborate with the mighty Randy Blythe on our song 'Taniwha'; off of our latest album, so it only made sense to have him be a part of the music video too!

We wanted to create something special for this one, and we are stoked with how it turned out!
"

ALIEN WEAPONRY have solidified themselves as one of the greatest young metal bands of their generation with renewed musical tenacity and crucial messaging. Since releasing their acclaimed debut (2018), the band have been lauded for their kinetic presence and sound, as well as their vital blend of culturally profound lyricism in both English and te reo Māori, the indigenous language of New Zealand.

With their third full-length album, ALIEN WEAPONRY expand on their hallmark messages of cultural, societal and environmental resilience while delivering their most massive-sounding, focused musical output ever.

In the hands of veteran producer/mixer Josh Wilbur (Lamb Of God, Gojira, Megadeth), Te Rā’s gnashing blend of groove, nu, math and thrash metal shines with anthemic choruses and refreshed technical skill. Te Rā is a bold, unwavering cry for a future in which we can all take part in the legacy of people like the Māori and others all around us – people who, if they aren’t seen, most certainly need to be heard! Taken as a whole, Te Rā grapples with what it’s like to be caught in the pull of divergent cultures – not just for the descendants of colonized people, but for all of us.

MOKOMOKAI release new album ‘PONO!’

MOKOMOKAI return with the release of PONO!, their third studio album. A slow-burning, soul-infused project that captures mood, memory, and truth, in nine rich and immersive tracks. Led by Manu (Eno x Dirty), alongside producers DUSTY & GHOS, the group continues to define their own lane with poetic lyricism over lush, atmospheric production rooted in soul and Polynesian influence.

In te reo Māori, “pono” can be translated as true, honest, or sincere. Producer DUSTY explains to Laura McInnes from Sniffers in their latest interview: “Back in the day, when we were younger, if someone was telling you something and you thought they were lying, you’d say, ‘Pono?’— and that was always kind of the truth indicator.”

The focus single, THE ONE arrives with a cinematic music video directed by Ray Edwards. Shot between the intimate setting of listening bar Kemuri Hi-Fi and the historic Grey Lynn, the visual immerses viewers in MOKOMOKAI’s carefully crafted universe, where the nostalgic soul of old-school sounds meets the dynamic pulse of inner-city life. It’s a seamless blend of past and present, brought to life through a lens that feels both grounded and visionary.

Pono brings together an exceptional lineup of talent, each artist contributing their raw truths and lived experiences to the project. On HONE SNOW, Lukan Raisey delivers a smooth, introspective verse, while lends their signature soulful spoken word to the title track, PONO. The features finish with a powerful collaboration on WINGS, uniting the distinctive voices of the inimitable Mara TK, Lui Tuiasau (of @Peace), and Tyra Hammond (of Opensouls). It's a powerful showcase of artists to celebrate the rich and diverse artistry flourishing here in Aotearoa.

Building on the momentum of their acclaimed album Whakarehu — which earned a Te Tino Waiata o te Tau Single of the Year nomination at the 2025 Aotearoa Music Awards for KUPEPono signals a striking evolution for MOKOMOKAI. It’s a bold artistic statement: raw yet refined, unflinchingly original. In a saturated musical landscape, the trio stands out by proving that growth doesn’t mean losing your edge, and that authenticity still cuts through the noise.
