OCTOBER MEMBERS ONLY ONLINE SESSION: From Stage to Screen: How Musicians Can Build a Career in Games

Join MMF Aotearoa for our October members only online seminar, focused on how musicians can build a career in games.

If you think game audio is a closed world reserved for specialist composers, Jayde Marter wants to show you otherwise.

In this session, Jayde will lead a no-mystery, real-world conversation about how professional musicians can move into game audio. He’ll cover the journey from songwriting and composition through to the technical understanding you’ll need, how to build a portfolio that studios take seriously, and how to approach them professionally. Along the way he’ll explore adaptive music, sync and licensing, and why so many of the skills musicians already have translate directly into games.

Jayde Marter is the Audio Director at PikPok, with more than 25 years in music and 14 years in game audio. He has helped shape PikPok’s audio signature across more than 30 game releases, reaching more than 500 million downloads worldwide.

Jayde has written and produced music for more than 21 original game soundtracks, including work across the Into the Dead franchise and Barbie Horse Ride and Rescue, and co-wrote the main themes for Into the Dead 2 and Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days with Broghan Blackshaw. His work spans composition, production, sound design and adaptive music systems that respond to the player. He is also Co-Founder of Burn My Records, working with alternative artists to build sustainable pathways through the industry.
