NO LIFE launch on to the Aotearoa heavy music scene with 3-track EP ‘RADICAL THOUGHTS’. The EP is designed to give people a starter rather than an entree, as they want you to know who they are right off the bat. Radical Thoughts isn’t just a sample pack, it is a very personal journey of Connor’s upbringing, summarised in 3 tracks.
The video for the lead single BACKCHAT premiered on BVTV’s YouTube Channel on the 1st May as the band wanted to kick off their launch right at the start of NZ Music Month. Shot by Whisko Creative, it has gained just over 14,000 views this week alone. To push the release even further the band have also launched pre-orders for merch and are planning shows with one already locked in!
“The EP is about the strings of emotions we are faced with in a time of change. The songs were written after I lost some close friendships that were extremely important to me. I turned to my first emotion of anger which is what ‘Backchat’ represents. Then turning to vices like alcohol to numb the pain I was feeling, that is expressed in ‘Fractured’. Lastly ‘East of None’ which is about forgiveness, letting go of those emotions and surrounding yourself with good people. I wrote ‘East of None’ about my best friend Nick Angel, who I reference as an easter egg in the song”. – Connor (Vocalist)
NO LIFE are a 4-piece metalcore/nu-metalcore band based in the South Island of New Zealand. No Life has been around since their first formation in 2019. However, the band only played a couple of shows before going quiet. During the time since then, Connor’s (original member) determination was still there to get the band going again and release more music.
Now with a new lineup, music ready to go and a plan in place, they are here to make a real go of it.

“Stay” is the soundtrack for the drunken late night phone calls and waking up lonely on a Sunday morning. Written by Kylie Price and Will Henderson, “Stay” was brought to life in the Apra studios at Parachute Studios between lockdowns in 2021. Whilst its pop melodic riffs and bouncy production work creates a light, toe tapping vibe - the underlying tone of loneliness is evident and what of ourselves we will sacrifice to fill the void, however tempremental. “Stay” narrates the actions of two individuals with the “no strings attached” mantra - however as the song progresses, sheds light on the truth that someone always gets attached and someone always gets hurt.
Kylie recently completed successful SXSW showcases in Austin Texas. Meeting there with Marshall Records (UK), has given Kylie more opportunities to work on writing and recording with musicians while currently in London.
She will be back home in time for the NZ summer festival scene!

“The music video holds so much meaning, the process of making it, with just my family - my brother behind the camera, really figuring it out together was really special.
“We also got to honour my Nana who recently passed in a beautiful way - she’s woven throughout the entire visual which makes it so meaningful to me.”

New Zealander Tom Lee-Richards releases 'What's Left to Be', a Brazilian-NZ collaboration
"Did you ever discover, just where we'd be, if I was ever to give you everything?" opens New Zealander Tom Lee-Richards' hypnotic and lyrically immediate track 'What's Left to Be', the second single from the upcoming E.P ‘Spinning for Shape’.
"Did you ever discover, just where we'd be, if I was ever to give you everything?" opens New Zealander Tom Lee-Richards' hypnotic and lyrically immediate track 'What's Left to Be', the second single from the upcoming E.P ‘Spinning for Shape’. Surging with waves of tense instrumentation as well as tender lyrical admissions the new single follows the underwater theme of the 1st single & music video 'Human' premiered by 'Where the Music Meets' Portugal.
With a drum groove (Pedro Hamdan) that is both relentless and boldly broken, 'What's Left to Be' is constantly searching for equilibrium. Together with oscillating synth (Felipe D'Angelo) and grinding, descending French Horn lines (Fabio Ogata), the unusual instrumentation reflects Tom's inspiration for the song which he describes as "The tension in a new relationship between being self sufficient and self contained and revealing yourself and your vulnerabilities". In a small moment of resolution Tom's lyrics begin to suggest that he is letting that love in.
The E.P 'Spinning for Shape' was recorded with acclaimed producer Leonardo Marques in Belo Horizonte, Brazil at the beginning of the pandemic. After reconnecting again with roots in New Zealand Tom has recently returned to Belo Horizonte to begin more musical projects. Humbly inspired by his mother's surreal oil paintings, the visualiser music video for this new song features Tom's own pastel sketches, his first time creating visual art to accompany music.

The musicians featured on the track and E.P: Bernardo Bauer (Bass, backing vocals), Felipe D'Angelo (Keys, Backing vocals), Pedro Hamdan (Drums), Fabio Ogata (French Horn), Matheus Felix (Violin) and Tom Lee-Richards (Vocals, guitar).

Fur Patrol are finally taking their postponed 21st birthday tour on the road with new dates confirmed for August, 2022.
Fur Patrol are finally taking their postponed 21st birthday tour on the road with new dates confirmed for August, 2022.
The iconic Kiwi rockers have locked in new dates for their seven-date tour of New Zealand in celebration of their landmark debut album, PET.
The tour, which will see Fur Patrol play PET in its entirety, kicks off at Playhouse in Nelson on Thursday, August 11, then it's down to Dive in Dunedin on Friday, August 12, and back up to The Good Home Ferrymead in Christchurch on Saturday, August 13. The following week they are at Totara Street in The Mount on Friday, August 19 and then Auckland’s Tuning Fork on Saturday, August 20. They head to Paisley Stage in Napier on Friday, August 26 and they wrap up the tour on Saturday, August 27 at San Fran in Wellington.
Tickets are on sale now and available from www.undertheradar.co.nz or www.moshtix.co.nz (Auckland/Tuning Fork) or www.totarast.co.nz (Tauranga).
In April 2021, Fur Patrol released the 20th Anniversary vinyl reissue of PET - their much-loved debut album, which spawned five singles, including ‘Andrew’, ‘Holy’, the chart-topping ‘Lydia’ and previously "hidden" track 'Bottles & Jars'. Buy the vinyl here.
After the tour being rescheduled three times due to Covid restrictions, now Fur Patrol are finally getting the band back together and taking the record on the road.
Fiery frontwoman Julia Deans will be joined by bandmates Simon Braxton (drums) and Andrew Bain (bass). “We're so looking forward to reloading and playing these songs live again, and just being in the same room together – it's been a minute!" says Julia.
Fur Patrol will be joined by a top-class cast of support acts on the tour including Nelson and Christchurch with Mousey, Dunedin with Death and The Maiden and the Mount, Auckland, Napier and Wellington all with Soft Plastics.
Hailed as one of the most beloved bands to emerge from NZ’s rock/pop scene in the late 90s/early 2000s, Fur Patrol made their mark in 1998 with their EP, STARLIFTER. But it was PET and its hit songs like ‘Lydia’ (the most played song on NZ radio in 2000) that really propelled them into the limelight. The band followed PET up with COLLIDER in 2003, THE LONG DISTANCE RUNNER EP in 2007 and LOCAL KID in 2008.
Fur Patrol are chomping at the bit to get out and play. Don’t miss the chance to hear PET in its entirety, live, this August!

Their first new music in almost three years, Mojo Alice is excited to show the bands growth and development in fine tuning their sound since their debut album Liquid Sin (2019).
The band’s vocalist, Jem comments;
"Sad Face is like a ‘lyrical caricature’ about what one hears when living with mental health issues, such as depression. There is an almost narcissistic expectation to simply get over it, stop wallowing and ‘be normal’ whatever that is. Written from my own experiences and from a sarcastic perspective. Sad Face is me!"
Sad Face is the first of several singles being released off of the brand-new album Chompin At The Bit. (To be released spring 2022)
Recorded in New Zealand and produced by Kentucky-based Jeff Westlake, Chompin' At The Bit is made up of 10 high-energy, stomp rock tracks, oozing with attitude.

Sam Bambery is a Ōtautahi-based musician that has built a steady reputation in the Garden City’s alternative music and art scenes whilst also having a deep interest in folk music and creative songwriting as a whole. Bambery recently released his debut album 'Songs About Sailors', produced by recording whiz-kid De Stevens (Marlin's Dreaming, asta rangu), peppered with a heartbroken alt-country vibe.
Neive Strang was born and raised in Dunedin, New Zealand. Originating from a musical family, she has been musically inclined ever since she can remember. Her diverse sound fluctuates between songs and has been listed as folk-pop, indie-rock to bedroom pop. Her EP, 'I Am The Ribbon' released earlier this year explores indie rock grooves and dreamy guitar sounds.
